Moss Jar Investigation - To learn about non-vascular plants, moss, closed ecosystems, repurposed products.

To create a lab report based on observations of moss in a jar. To include in lab report.

Title - Something to do with moss

Purpose- What are trying to understand and learn about?

Materials - List all objects used

Procedure - You may use sketches, bullet points, or narrative description of how you completed your investigation.

Data - Create a table of all the days (date on top) and what you observe occuring in your jar. 

Conclusion -

  • Explain using the moss life cycle what you observed from your data. Refer to the vocabulary in your writing. 
  • You should have seen evidence of the water cycle in your jar. Explain how the two phenomenon interact.
  • Explain how your moss grew even though it was contained. 
  • Describe what a non-vascular plant is using what you observed in your investigation. 
  • What could you have done better? This includes while you took your data. 

Begin by learning about Moss- The above book is an amazing explanation of moss and life. In it I learned about the 'boundary layer.'
