Week of November 10-14, 2014
This week you will have 2 assignments to complete. The first one should be finished by Wednesday so you can have time to do the second one. It would be helpful to bring headphones for part 2 because there are several videos you will be watching.
First assignment
Energy Kids website to be used for the packet. Here is a copy of the packet you were given should you lose it.
Second Assignment- Read and do what each objective explains.
- Video explaining fracking- Watch the video and make a drawing explaining the fracking process.
- Song about fracking- Watch this video/song at least twice and explain in at least 6 bullet points what it means to be "fracked".
- View this image of the United States and describe why Illinois might be the next major fracking area. Discuss where in the state the oil and natural gas is and how this will impact our state.
- Read and summarize this article Fracking Can Begin in Illinois. Now find one more article on fracking in Illinois and summarize and compare the two.
- Watch this comedy central video and tell me who Josh Fox is and what he is doing about the Fracking movement.
- View this map of potential fracking across the world. Compare it to the US map and discuss the consequences of drilling all over the world.
- For extra credit watch the movie Gasland and summarize it telling me what you think about it. If needed it is subtitled in Spanish.

Today is the last day in the computer lab to work on the 3 things needed to complete this webquest.
Please turn in field trip forms.
When finished with the webquest go to number 2.

2. Next go here and finish the story of the Gold Dust Kid.
3. Using the periodic table you need to make a poster of the elements that spell your name. On the poster make sure you type out the element as it appears on the periodic table and write out 4 facts about the element.
Your poster should be made on the computer but first you need to make a rough draft. On your rough draft have your notes, in your own words, about the elements.
