Brain week- In your notebooks you should have info about different brain parts, SLANT, neurons, and good brain habits.

Characteristics of Life Review Packet

Biological levels of organization

Book work-  To be done in your notebook.
  • On page 945- Figure 2- Draw, label, and describe all the parts to a neuron
  • On page 947- Draw figure 3 in your notebook making sure all parts are labeled.  Describe what an action potential and resting potential are.  What foods can you get Na+ (sodium) and K+ (potassium) from? Ask if you do not know!
  • Page 948- Discuss what a synapse and neurotransmitter are.  How do they work together?
  • Page 955- Answer questions 1 and 2 in complete sentences.  
  • On page 957 is a picture of a brain.  Add the different sensory functions to your brain picture I had you draw.  
  • Describe to me in your notebook what is meant by sensory receptors and give 3 examples.


Homework assigned 8/30/2013

In your notebook do the following using your textbook pages 7-9.
Draw a box divided in 4 sections.  Put the following in each section: theme, definition, example, and picture.

Homework to turn in:  What is an Ecosystem worksheet.
Take Data on your Moss Jars- You should be writing information down on what is happening to the moss and the water cycle in your jar.  (Is there condensation on the side or top?)

Today you are to make a box with 4 sections.  In each section write the following words:  Carnivore, herbivore, omnivore, producer.  Under each word write a definition in your own words and draw a picture representing the word.
